Understanding skin conditions
Changes to your skin can be uncomfortable and difficult to interpret. A doctor can discuss the appearance, duration and triggers of your symptoms. Clear photographs may help, but some skin problems need direct examination or testing.
Reasons to speak with a doctor
- Itchy, dry or irritated skin
- A recurring rash or previously diagnosed eczema
- Questions about existing skin treatments
How our doctors can help
- Review your symptoms, triggers and treatments you have already tried.
- Discuss gentle skin care and suitable medical treatment when appropriate.
- Identify concerns that need in-person assessment or referral to a dermatologist.
When to seek urgent care
Call 000 for a rash with breathing difficulty or swelling of the lips or tongue. A rapidly spreading painful rash, fever, blistering or a changing or bleeding mole needs prompt in-person review.

Your questions, answered
Are photographs enough to diagnose a rash?
Not always. Photos can be helpful, but your doctor may need an examination, swab or other test to make a safe assessment.
Can I have a skin cancer check online?
Telehealth does not replace a full skin check. New, changing, bleeding or unusual spots should be assessed in person.
Can every condition be treated online?
No. Telehealth is suitable for many non-emergency concerns, but some symptoms need a physical examination, tests or urgent care. Your doctor will explain when an in-person visit is the safer option.
Are doctors available 24/7?
Yes. ConsultNow offers doctor consultations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays. Waiting times depend on demand.
Will I definitely receive a prescription?
No. All prescriptions, referrals and medical certificates depend on your doctor assessing what is safe and clinically appropriate. Booking a consultation does not guarantee a particular treatment.
